HC Deb 17 November 1930 vol 245 c41
86. Lieut.-Colonel WINDSOR-CLIVE

asked the Minister of Health whether he has any evidence to show if the milk and cream imported into this country from overseas are produced under the same sanitary conditions as are required from producers of milk and cream in this country?

Miss LAWRENCE

I understand that most of the milk and cream imported from abroad comes from Denmark and the Netherlands. A Commission sent out by my Department visited these countries in 1927, and reported that the conditions of milk production there were not inferior hygienically to those existing in this country.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Can the hon. Lady say whether this Commission went out there in the summer when the cows were in the fields or in the winter when the cows were in their stalls and sheds which are not as good as ours in this country?

Miss LAWRENCE

I must ask for notice of that question.
