19. Sir WILLIAM DAVISON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether a reply has now been received from His Majesty's Ambassador at Moscow as to the result of his representations to the Soviet Government with regard to their refusal to meet the arbitral award in favour of Lena Goldfields, Limited, and what is the nature of such reply?

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Soviet Government has yet intimated to him any decision with regard to the Lena Goldfields case?

Mr. DALTON

No reply has yet been received by His Majesty's Ambassador in Moscow to the note on this subject which he addressed to the Soviet. Government on the 2nd of November.

Has the hon. Gentleman considered the very heavy losses which are being occasioned to shareholders of this company, and does he not think it a matter of urgency?
