HC Deb 17 November 1930 vol 245 cc13-4
37. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he has received recently any reports as regards the labour conditions in Russia, and particularly those obtaining in the coal-mining industry?

Mr. GILLETT (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)

His Majesty Ambassador has from time to time reported upon the labour situation in the Soviet Union. In these despatches incidental reference occurs to labour conditions prevailing in the Donetz coalfields, but no special report has been received upon that subject.

Sir K. WOOD

Will the hon. Member see that proper information is given to the House from time to time?

Mr. GILLETT

As I stated last week, we are considering whether we can do this, and, if we can, I will bear the suggestion in mind.
