HC Deb 17 November 1930 vol 245 cc28-9
61. Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

asked the Minister of Agriculture if, in view of the failure of the corn harvest in many parts of England and in view of the price of wheat, he has any statement to make on the Government policy for immediate help to the farmer and smallholder in his next season's crop?

70. Viscount WOLMER

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, in view of the termination of the Imperial Conference, he is now in a position to state what steps the Government proposes to take to put cereal growing on a remunerative basis?

Dr. ADDISON

I am not at present in a position to make any statement.

Lieut.-Colonel HENEAGE

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when we are likely to have a statement, because the land has to be sown?

Dr. ADDISON

A good deal has already been sown. We shall get on as quickly as possible.

Colonel ASHLEY

Has the right hon. Gentleman no policy of his own?

Dr. ADDISON

A promise was made at the end of last Session, and we propose to keep it.
