§ 40. Mr. DAYasked the home Secretary the number of police officers in the Metropolitan Police District who have been called upon to resign during the 12 months ended to the last convenient date, and can he give particulars?
§ Mr. CLYNESIn the 12 months ended 31st October, 25 members of the Metropolitan Police were required to resign, in addition to 12 who were dismissed. The offences were mainly discreditable and insubordinate conduct, disobedience of orders or neglect of duty. I think I should perhaps odd that the strength of the Metropolitan Police Force is approximately 20,000.
