HC Deb 13 November 1930 vol 244 c1830
27. Mr. HORE-BELISHA

asked the Minister of Labour whether she is aware of the number of apprentices recently discharged from Devonport Dockyard who find it difficult to obtain employment; and whether in view of the fact that these young men have been through a special training by the Government, arrangements can be made to secure employment for them?

Miss BONDFIELD

My information is that no apprentice recently discharged from the Devonport Dockyard is registered as unemployed, either at Devonport or at Plymouth. There are 26 men registered at these Exchanges whose apprenticeship ended at some date prior to 1st January last, but all of them have been employed at the dockyard after the end of their apprenticeship.
