§ 64. Mr. ALBERYasked the Minister of Health if he proposes to impose any further restrictions and safeguards on the issue of birth certificates?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI am not clear what the hon. Member has in mind as regards safeguards or restrictions, but I may observe that every member of the public is entitled by law to obtain on payment of the statutory fees a certified copy of any entry in the birth register; and I know of no grounds for imposing any restrictions upon those facilities.
§ Mr. ALBERYIs the right hon. Gentleman not aware of the fact that recently birth certificates have been obtained for an improper purpose? Might I suggest that the Home Secretary and himself should take stops to deal with the matter?
§ Mr. GREENWOODIf the hon. Member will give me cases, I will consider them with my right hon. Friend.
