HC Deb 04 November 1930 vol 244 c665
70. Mr. L. SMITH

asked the Secretary for Mines the quantities and prices of coal, as well as the countries of origin from which these consignments have come, which have been imported into this country during each of the last six months for which figures are available?

Mr. SHINWELL

The total quantity of foreign coal which entered this country in the six months April-September, 1930, was 119 tons and its total value £149. I understand that the coal in question was not imported in the ordinary sense of the term; it was discharged from the bunkers of incoming vessels. I am sending the hon. Member the details for which he asks.
