HC Deb 03 November 1930 vol 244 cc435-6
4. Mr. WARDLAW-MILNE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether it is the intention of the Government to submit its own proposals to the Round Table Conference; and whether it has prepared for the conference an agenda of matters to be brought forward and decided upon the order in which they shall be considered?

Mr. BENN

I dealt with the first part of my hon. Friend's question in my answer to the question standing in the name of the hon. and gallant Member for the Isle of Wight (Captain P. Macdonald) which was not asked, namely, that it is not the intention of the Government to formulate proposals for constitutional changes in India pending discussion in the Conference. In reply to the second part of the question, the matter of the agenda of business is at present under consideration.

Mr. WARDLAW-MILNE

Does that mean that it will he possible to have a statement regarding the agenda before the Conference meets?

Mr. BENN

I am not quite sure. I think probably the Conference will he the right place, but I will consider it.
