Major GRAHAM POLEasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if any further progress has been made in putting into effect the requirements in respect of Indian immigrant labourers on the plantations in Ceylon, made by the Government of India and originally embodied in the Medical Wants Ordinance, which was dropped by the Government of Ceylon after its second reading in the Ceylon Legislative Council in 1926?

Major POLEasked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies if, in view of the assurance which was given on behalf of the Government of Ceylon to the effect that every assisted Indian immigrant labourer induced to take employment on Ceylon plantations should enjoy equal political status with the other subjects of His Majesty in the Colony, he will say whether it is the intention of His Majesty's Government to guarantee the continuance of this assurance under the proposed constitution as affected by the Stanley-Passfield despatch?
