HC Deb 26 May 1930 vol 239 c812
69. Mr. FREEMAN

asked the Minister of Transport whether he will consider the desirability of introducing legislation amending the present law so as to give persons travelling on railways with weekend, excursion, or other reduced fare ticket, a claim for compensation on the railway company in the case of accident or death?

The MINISTER of TRANSPORT (Mr. Herbert Morrison)

I would refer my hon. Friend to the answer which I gave last Thursday to a question on the subject asked by the hon. Member for Stratford (Mr. Groves) of which I am sending him a copy.

Mr. FREEMAN

Will the hon. Gentleman consider approaching the railway companies to see whether they will accept this liability?

Mr. MORRISON

The matter involves legislation, and I am afraid I cannot add anything to the answer I have already given.
