HC Deb 26 May 1930 vol 239 cc810-1
56. Mr. HOPKIN

asked the Attorney-General if he is prepared to consider legislation for the purpose of appointing Judges of county courts as commissioners of assize to sit as second Judges at assizes?

The SOLICITOR-GENERAL (Sir lames Melville)

No legislation is requisite for the purpose of inserting the name of a Judge of a county court in a Commission of Assize, and this course has been followed on several occasions in recent years when the necessity arose.

Mr. HOPKIN

Is the hon. and learned Gentleman prepared to make this a regular custom?
