Mr. THOMASThe scheme for the electrification of the Wirral Railway is being reconsidered by the London Midland and Scottish Railway Company. I am, not in a position to give any further information at present.
§ Mr. WHITECan the right hon. Gentleman make such representations as are possible with a view to this important scheme being undertaken?
Mr. THOMASI do not know whether the hon. Member has put this question on the Paper with inside information. If he has, he will know that it is not desirable to answer it. If he has not, I want to tell him that delicate negotiations are taking place between two competing companies, and the Government do not propose to act as arbitrators.
