HC Deb 20 May 1930 vol 239 cc214-5
53. Mr. MOSES

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty if his attention has been called to the housing conditions prevailing at the Ernesettle Camp, St. Budeaux; and what steps he proposes to take to bring about better conditions for the people resident there?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the ADMIRALTY (Mr. Ammon)

There is no longer any camp at Erne-settle, but I presume that my hon. Friend refers to four old Army huts which are still on the site. Since the Admiralty took over the property from the War Department last year, they have made the huts wind and water tight, but they desire to clear the land of all buildings as soon as possible and do not intend therefore to do anything further. The tenants have been warned to find other accommodation.

Mr. MOSES

Cannot the hon. Gentleman say what action is to be taken to provide accommodation for these people?

Mr. AMMON

That is a matter for the Flint and St. Mary Rural District Council.

Mr. MOSES

Have any steps been taken to acquaint them with that fact?
