HC Deb 19 May 1930 vol 239 cc28-9
61. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Minister of Agriculture whether, with a view to improving the agricultural position, he proposes to take any action involving further credits and bulk purchases on condition that a co-operative organisation is first established?

The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Noel Buxton)

I am not clear as to the precise scheme which the right hon. Member has in mind, but if he would be good enough to elaborate his inquiry I should be happy to give him a considered answer.

Sir K. WOOD

Is the right hon. Gentleman not aware that this is an important proposal of the Co-operative Congress, and will he telegraph a copy of his reply to the co-operative candidate at Nottingham?

62. Viscount ELMLEY

asked the Minister of Agriculture if he will consider repealing Section 12 of the Agricultural Credits Act, 1928, to enable banks to advance money for the maturing and harvesting of this year's crop?

Mr. N. BUXTON

I would refer the Noble Lord to the reply given on the 12th May in answer to a similar question by the hon. Member for Aylesbury (Mr. Beaumont), of which I am sending him a copy.
