HC Deb 19 May 1930 vol 239 cc25-6
60. Mr. L'ESTRANGE MALONE

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether his attention has been called to the Boot and Shoe Trades Exhibition, which is being held at Northampton from 26th May to 31st May; and if his Department is proposing to take any steps to make this exhibition known to commercial attachés, British and foreign, in this and other neighbouring countries?

Mr. W. R. SMITH

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative. Arrangements for publicity in this country are a matter for the organisers of the exhibition, but the attention of the commercial diplomatic officers in neighbouring countries is being drawn to the exhibition.

Mr. A. M. SAMUEL

Will the hon. Member draw the attention of the boot and shoe trade to the British Industries Fair, and persuade them to use the Fair for their trade exhibition, in which case they would have the help of the whole of His Majesty's servants abroad and at home?

Mr. SMITH

I can only assume that the industry is well aware of the facts.
