SIMONasked the Minister of Health whether he is aware of the mining work which is being undertaken at Red Tarn which, if developed, will destroy one of the beauty spots of the Lake District, and of the threat of other similar industrial developments; and whether he will accelerate regional planning, or take other action, to control such development in order to preserve the amenities of rural England?
§ Mr. GREENWOODI have no information as to the particular mining development referred to. With the assistance of my Department two Regional Planning Committees have already been set up covering a large part of the Lake District. If the hon. Member will supply me with details of the case, I will bring the matter to the notice of the local bodies concerned.
