HC Deb 12 May 1930 vol 238 cc1444-5
46. Mr. MUGGERIDGE

asked the Prime Minister whether it is the intention of the Government to secure the passing of the Education (School Attendance) Bill in this Session of Parliament?

The PRIME MINISTER

It will be necessary to withdraw the Bill at present, before the House and substitute another, including the arrangements for dealing with Voluntary Schools as outlined in the White Paper (Cmd. 3551). The new Bill will be introduced as soon as possible and the Government now hope that it may be possible to pass the Bill into law this Session.

Dr. VERNON DAVIES

Will the Prime Minister state whether it is the intention of the Government to include in this new Bill the provisions now incorporated in the Canal Boats Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

No.

Mr. SMITHERS

Can the right hon. Gentleman tell us in round figures the financial commitments of the country under the new Bill.
