HC Deb 08 May 1930 vol 238 c1125
59. Mr. FREEMAN

asked the Minister of Health whether his attention has been called to the proposals of the British Medical Association to nationalise the medical services of this country; and what steps, if any, he proposes to take to give them practical effect?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I assume that my hon. Friend refers to the proposals described by the association as proposals for a general medical service for the nation. These proposals have only recently been published, and I have not yet had an opportunity of considering them closely; but I do not gather that they are intended to have any such effect as is indicated in the question.

Mr. C. WILLIAMS

Would it be necessary to bring in legislation?

Mr. GREENWOOD

Most certainly.
