HC Deb 07 May 1930 vol 238 cc965-6
65. Mr. A. M. SAMUEL

asked the Attorney-General what steps are being taken to give effect to the memorandum sent by the London Chamber of Commerce complaining of the cost of litigation and asking that the present procedure in the Courts of Justice may be simplified?

The SOLICITOR - GENERAL (Sir James Melville)

The memorandum to which the hon. Gentleman refers is under consideration. I am not at present in a position to make any further statement with regard to the matter.

Mr. SAMUEL

Will the hon. Gentleman bear in mind that the present position almost amounts to a denial of justice, and is he aware that there are now 3,000 pages of procedure in a book which weighs nearly 6 lbs., although printed on India paper?

HON. MEMBERS
