§ 63. Mr. MANDERasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what major appointments have been given to nationals of England, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States on the staff of the International Bank; and whether the Government have used their influence to see that this country is adequately represented in the personnel of the bank?
§ Mr. P. SNOWDENI understand that the board of the Bank for International Settlements are at present organising the staff of the bank, but I have no special information on the matter; the bank is a commercial and non-political institution, and there is no question of Government intervention in regard to the appointment of its staff.
§ Mr. MANDERAre not the Governments of France and Germany exercising a great deal of pressure in the interests of their own country, and cannot the British Government do the same?
