§ 23. Mr. ALBERYasked the Home Secretary whether his attention has been called to the existence of an organisation in this country having as its object or part of its object interference with the present government of Russia; and whether any steps have been taken by Scotland Yard in this matter?
§ Mr. CLYNESI can find no evidence of the existence of such an organisation in this country. A supposed scheme for establishing one, to which reference was 351 recently made in the Press, has been investigated. It appears to have been originated by two irresponsible individuals with the object of obtaining publicity for themselves, and has been abandoned.
§ Mr. ALBERYDoes not the right hon. Gentleman think that in the existing circumstances it is very undesirable that prominence should be given to statements of that kind? Would it be within his province to make representations to that effect?
§ Mr. CLYNESGreater prominence is given to these matters by questions in this House.
§ Mr. McSHANEAre not the party opposite always trying to interfere with the internal affairs of Russia?
§ Mr. BENSONMay we have the names of these two irresponsible gentlemen?
§ Mr. CLYNESMy reply is that that would only give them further advertisement.
