HC Deb 31 March 1930 vol 237 c891
54. Captain CAZALET

asked the Postmaster-General when telephonic communication will be established between this country and the Argentine?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

I am not yet in a position to make a definite statement on this subject.

Captain CAZALET

Is it not the fact that nearly every important country in Europe has had telephonic communication with the Argentine, in some cases for years, and in every case for many months, and that we are the only exception?

Mr. LEES-SMITH

I may say that we have telephonic communication, but not direct telephonic communication. Only two countries in Europe have direct telephonic communication.
