§ 50. Mr. EDEasked the Minister of Transport if it is the practice of his Department, when approving schemes involving the throwing of common land or manorial wastes into a highway, to provide for the throwing of at least an equivalent area of land into the common or waste?
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONCases of this kind are not necessarily brought to the notice of my Department. Where, however, there is a statutory obligation to provide other land in exchange for common land acquired for road purposes, it is my practice to allow as grant-earning expenditure the cost of any land needed for the purpose.
