HC Deb 19 March 1930 vol 236 cc2063-4
The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

I am sure that the whole House will grieve to know that Lord Balfour died this morning, and I feel perfectly certain that the House will wish to pay its respects to himself and to do homage to his memory, by adjourning at once. I may say that, to-morrow, I shall take steps to allow the expression of the tributes that we would like to pay from all sides of the House to his memory. I, therefore, beg to move, "That this House do now adjourn."

Mr. STANLEY BALDWIN

I would merely say, on this occasion, that I am convinced that the Prime Minister has moved a Motion which will be in accord with the sentiments and feelings of the whole House.

Sir HERBERT SAMUEL

On behalf of those who sit on these benches, I desire to associate myself with the Motion which has been moved by the Prime Minister.

Question put, and agreed to.

Adjourned accordingly at eight Minutes before Three o'Clock.
