§ 11. Major POLEasked the Secretary of State for India whether his attention has been drawn to the statement of the Director of the Botanical Survey of India, in his Report for 1928–29, to the effect that the poor in India are unable to purchase quinine at the price at which it is being sold in India, and that the charitable dispensaries have to turn malaria-striken patients away empty or with inadequate doses; and whether, in view of this position, the Government of India are taking any steps to reconsider its policy in regard to the cultivation of cinchona in India and the manufacture and distribution of quinine?
§ Mr. BENNI have not seen the Report referred to, but am asking the Government of India for an up-to-date Report on the position.
