HC Deb 13 March 1930 vol 236 cc1498-503
Mr. STANLEY BALDWIN

May I ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what will be the business for next week?

Mr. P. SNOWDEN

On Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday we propose to move Mr. Speaker out of the Chair on going into Committee of Supply on the Navy, Air and Army Estimates, respectively, and to take the essential Votes in Committee, as follow:

Monday: Navy Estimates, Votes A, 1, 10 and 2.

Tuesday: Air Estimates, Votes A, 1, 4, 3 and 8.

Wednesday: Army Estimates, Votes A, 1, 10, 11, 13, 14 and 15. The Committee of Ways and Means Resolutions will also be taken on Wednesday.

Thursday: Completion of the Committee stage of the Coal Mines Bill.

On any day, should time permit, other Orders may be taken.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

With regard to Monday's business, may I ask whether it is intended that the First Lord of the Admiralty shall be here, and, in that case, will there be a statement from him on the negotiations that are going on with the other Naval Powers?

Mr. SNOWDEN

My right hon. Friend will certainly be here. He will decide himself in what form his statement shall be made.

Mr. BALDWIN

With reference to the Motion which stands on the Order Paper in the name of the Prime Minister, may I ask, Mr. Speaker, if the Motion may be put in two parts, as we wish to protest against the almost daily putting down

of a Motion for the suspension of the Eleven o'Clock Rule?

Ordered, That the Proceedings on the Motion relating to Unemployment (Industrial and Fiscal Policy) have precedence this day of the Business of Supply."—[Mr. P. Snowden.]

Motion made, and Question put, That the Proceedings on Report of Supply [12th March] be exempted, at this day's Sitting, from the provisions of the Standing Order (Sittings of the House)."—[Mr. P. Snowden.]

The House divided: Ayes, 285; Noes, 158.
