HC Deb 03 March 1930 vol 236 cc218-9

Motion made, and Question proposed, That a Supplementary sum, not exceeding £20,000, be granted to His Majesty, to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March 1930, for Superannuation, Compensation, Compassionate and Additional Allowance" and Gratuities under sundry Statutes, in- cluding the Superannuation (Diplomatic Service) Act, 1929; Compassionate Allowances, Gratuities, and Supplementary Pensions awarded by the Treasury, and under the Government of Ireland Act, 1920, by the Civil Service Committee.

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

This item consists of two parts: £12,000 in diplomatic pensions, and the other item is £8,000, which represents what is the equivalent to the pensions and gratuities of civil servants in this country, but in Northern Ireland it is there settled, not by the Treasury, but by a special committee appointed for the purpose.
