§ 14. Colonel HOWARD-BURYasked the Secretary of State for India what steps the Government propose to take with regard to broadcasting in India; and whether it is proposed to take over the Indian Broadcasting Company and to establish communal loud-speakers in the larger villages?
§ Mr. BENNThe Government of India intend, subject to the assent of the Legislative Assembly, to purchase the property of the Indian Broadcasting Company and to carry on experimentally for a year the services hitherto offered by the company. Pending the result of this experience no new developments will be attempted, but the Government intend next year to appoint a Committee to examine the position in the light of the experience gained and the possibilities of further development.
