§ Miss BONDFIELDThe number of men at present employed on schemes put forward by the Newcastle City Council for the relief of unemployment is 155. In selecting men from the unemployed register for these works special preference, by arrangement with the City Council, is given to married men and single men with dependants according to the length of their unemployment.
