§ Miss BONDFIELDSome information on this subject was laid before Parliament in Command Paper 3327 in May, 1929. In order to obtain further information and advice on the matter, I have asked the National Advisory Councils for Juvenile Employment to consider the prospective supply of and demand for juvenile labour and advise as to any measures which should be taken for the purpose of adjusting the relation between the supply and demand.

GRATTAN-DOYLEasked the Minister of Labour how many pamphlets have been issued to date for the guidance of persons concerned in advising boys and girls leaving secondary schools on the choice of a suitable career; what has been the total circulation; what careers have been dealt with; and what pamphlets are in preparation?
§ Miss BONDFIELDEight pamphlets within the "Choice of Career" series have been issued to date on the following professions and occupations:
1327 Copies of each of these pamphlets have been sent gratis to local committees for juvenile employment, local authorities for higher education, heads of recognised secondary schools, university appointments boards, etc., to the approximate number of 3,300. Public sales, etc., have totalled approximately 12,500 copies.

- 3. Veterinary Surgery.
- 4. Surveying, Land and Estate Agency and Auctioneering.
- 4a. House Property Management for Women.
- 5. Architecture.
- 6. Accountancy.
- 7. Laundry Management.
In one instance the Employers' Federation concerned has distributed a copy of the pamphlet with each copy of its official trade publication, while in others the professional body has purchased copies for the members of its council. Pamphlets on Navigating Officers in the Merchant Navy and on Domestic Science will, it is hoped, be issued within the next two or three weeks. Other pamphlets in actual preparation are on "Commercial Appointments"; the Civil Services at home and overseas; Local Government Services and Public Statutory Bodies; and Librarianship.
