43. Major COLVILLE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will ex- plain why there were on 2nd June 200 public companies five and a-half months in arrear in their obligation to lodge annual accounts and balance sheets?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. W. R. Smith)

The arrangements in regard to this matter were set out in the full reply given on the 6th May to questions asked by the hon. Member for Ilford (Sir G. Hamilton) and the hon. and learned Member for East Grinstead (Sir H. Cautley), of which I am sending the hon. and gallant Member a copy. The number of cases outstanding has now been reduced to about 130.
