HC Deb 06 June 1930 vol 239 c2551
19. Mr. ALBERY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury under what conditions a certificate of approval has been given in the case of the Union of Post Office Workers and the Civil Service Clerical Association; and if and when such certificates are subject to renewal?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

I would refer the hon. Member to the Civil Service (Approved Associations) Regulations, 1927, made by the Treasury in pursuance of the Trades Disputes and Trades Unions Act, 1927, a copy of which I am sending him. He will find in Part I of the Schedule the conditions to be fulfilled by an organisation in order to entitle it to a certificate of approval, and in Regulation No. 4 the requirements to be complied with. The Regulations provide that a certificate shall continue in force until cancelled by the Treasury, but that it shall be cancelled if at any time the Treasury is not satisfied that the organisation concerned fulfils the conditions set out in Part I of the Schedule, and that it may be cancelled if the requirements of Regulation 4 are not complied with.
