40. Mr. ALBERY

asked the Minister of Transport if he can state the total value of the contracts placed to date by the Central Electricity Board?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

I understand that the value of the contracts placed by the Central Electricity Board to date is approximately £13,100,000.

Major COLVILLE

Will the hon. Gentleman say if it is the invariable practice of the Board to order British materials?

Mr. MORRISON

The Board in its last annual report stated that up to December, 1929, it was happy to be able to say that all its contracts had been placed with British firms.
