Sir GEORGE HAMILTONasked the Under-Secretary of State for Air whether, seeing that, as a result of representations made to him by the Australian Government, His Majesty's Government have agreed to lend a 2,000 horse-power engine for an attempt on the world's speed record by a private individual, His Majesty's Government will do the same for any resident in Great Britain or Northern Ireland?
§ Mr. MONTAGUEThe Australian application related to a 1,200, not 2,000, horse-power engine, and as such an engine is available, the loan of it has in principle been approved, subject to the fulfilment of certain conditions as regards payment of freight, insurance and reconditioning charges. There is no 2,000 horse-power engine available nor a second engine of 1,200 horse-power.
