§ Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCEI would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the reply which I gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Westhoughton (Mr. Rhys Davies) on the 17th April last, giving the 1949 numbers and cost of Civil Service personnel in 1913–1914 and 1928–1929, respectively. Coresponding figures for the year 1929–30 are not yet available.
