asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the total number of employés in the dockyard at Portsmouth and the number engaged in productive work and in on-cost work?

The total number of employés in the shipbuilding and ship-repairing departments (Vote 8) of Portsmouth Yard is 10,903 and the approximate numbers employed on productive work and on indirect services are as follow:

Productive work 7,580
Indirect services 3,323
Total 10,903
