HC Deb 02 June 1930 vol 239 c1736
36. Mr. BROTHERS

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department if the Government proposes to send a cotton trade mission to the Far East; who will select representatives; and from what funds will the cost be defrayed?

Mr. GILLETT

As a measure of assisting export trade the Overseas Trade Development Council have under consideration the question of sending economic missions abroad. I regret that at the moment I am not in a position to make any more definite announcement in regard to this matter.

49. Major NATHAN

asked the Prime Minister whether the report on the cotton industry has yet been completed; and whether it is proposed to publish it?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

I expect to receive this report, before Whitsun. As regards the last part of the question, as I have repeatedly stated, it is not possible to consider the question of publication until the report is received.

Mr. HAMMERSLEY

Will this report be received in the course of the next few days?

The PRIME MINISTER

I expect so.
