HC Deb 31 July 1930 vol 242 cc676-7
16. Mr. STEPHEN

asked the Minister of Labour what are the average working hours of waiters and waitresses in Glasgow restaurants, and the average rate of wages paid to such workers; and when it is proposed to set up a trade board for is proposed to set up a Trade Board for such workers?

Miss BONDFIELD

A report upon inquiries which have been made in the catering trade will be issued within, the next few weeks and will give particulars of the hours and wages of workers in restaurants in Great Britain as a whole. Separate particulars for towns or districts cannot be given. In reply to the last part of the question, I propose to issue a Notice of Intention to apply the Acts to the catering trade at an early date.

Mr. McSHANE

Is it not possible from the evidence taken for the right hon. Lady to give the information asked for in the question?

Miss BONDFIELD

No.
