§ 23. Sir WILLIAM DAVISONasked the Secretary of State for War if he will give particulars of the present war establishment of the Russian Soviet Government; and what increases have been made during the past year?
§ Mr. SANDERSThe establishment of the regular army of the Union of Socialist Soviet Republics, according to the League of Natons Armaments Year Book, 1930, is 562,000. This figure, I understand, excludes all military formations other than the regular army. There has been no change in the figure shown since 1929.
§ Sir W. DAVISONIs it not a fact that the forces available for war in the Russian Soviet Republic have been materially increased during the last 12 months, when other nations have been reducing their armaments?
§ Mr. SANDERSThe information that I have given to the House does not seem to convey the meaning expressed by the hon. Member.
§ Sir W. DAVISONWill the hon. Member make further inquires to bring his information up-to-date?
