HC Deb 22 July 1930 vol 241 c1929
28. Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

asked the Secretary for Mines whether it is proposed to introduce during the present Session the Bill dealing with coal-mining royalties?

Mr. SHINWELL

No, Sir. It has been realised for some time that, even if this Bill had been introduced during this Session, it could not have made any further progress; and it followed from the Prime Minister's announcement on 25th June, concerning the business to be undertaken during the remainder of this Session, that this was one of the Measures which could not now be introduced during the present Session.

Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE

Is it the intention of the Government to introduce this Bill in the next Session if they survive as long?
