HC Deb 22 July 1930 vol 241 c1938
51. Dr. VERNON DAVIES

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury how many other directorships are held by the Government directors on the board of the Communications Company?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

One of the two directors referred to is also a director of the Bank of England and the other has been Chairman of the British Broadcasting Corporation. So far as I am aware, these are the only appointments held by them apart from the posts which they occupy as directors of Imperial and International Communications Limited.

Dr. DAVIES

Does the Financial Secretary not think that the previous directorships which these gentlemen hold are so very important that, considering the necessity of reducing the personnel in the directorate of the Communications Company, he might appoint directors who do not hold all these directorial offices?
