HC Deb 16 July 1930 vol 241 cc1270-1
36. Major NATHAN

asked the Minister of Transport if he is able to state the position as regards the Charing Cross Bridge scheme?

Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

As the hon. Member is aware, the London County Council have appointed a committee to advise them on the subject of Charing Cross Bridge.

Mr. HARRIS

Are we to understand that the Ministry of Transport are prepared to co-operate with this committee and to place all possible information at their disposal?

Mr. MORRISON

Yes. In answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Mile End (Mr. Scurr) last week, I circulated in the OFFICIAL REPORT a copy of my letter to the Council, in which I intimated that, while the Department would not be able to be represented on the advisory committee, the information and the technical staff of the Ministry would be at their disposal, and we are co-operating with the chairman and the members to that end.
