HC Deb 14 July 1930 vol 241 c894
2. Major-General Sir ALFRED KNOX

asked the Secretary of State for India if he will suggest to the Government of India the desirability of raising the pay of all ranks of the Indian police as a recognition of their loyalty and devotion?

Mr. BENN

Except as regards the Indian Police Service, whose pay is fixed in accordance with the recommendations of the Royal Commission on the Superior Civil Services in India, 1924, the pay of the police is a matter for the local governments in India and is subject to the vote of Provincial legislatures.
