asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the percentage of naval and marine officers, respectively, on the recruiting staff; how many of these officers are in receipt of a pension of £400 or upwards; and how many officers are there waiting on the list to be considered?

Mr. G. H. HALL

There are 11 naval (including seven medical officers) and five Royal Marine officers serving on the Naval Recruiting Staff. Of these, nine officers (including six Naval medical officers) are in receipt of retired pay of £400 or upwards. There are 12 suitable candidates whose names are on the waiting list.
