HC Deb 27 January 1930 vol 234 c598
31. Mr. MANDER

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs if he will ask the British Consuls in West Africa for reports on the conditions of labour in the Portuguese colonies; and whether he will publish these and any other reports on the subject that may be in existence, as was done prior to the War?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

The Assembly of the League of Nations, and the International Labour Office, have for some years been pursuing investigations into labour conditions, and a questionnaire has recently been issued to all Governments concerned. The answers to this questionnaire will be considered at the annual conference of the International Labour Office, which meets at Geneva on the 30th May, and whose deliberations are held in public.
