HC Deb 27 January 1930 vol 234 c602
38. Mr. HANNON

asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether he proposes to promote organised effort during the forthcoming months for the encouragement of foreign tourists to visit Great Britain and Ireland; and if any instructions have been issued to His Majesty's representatives in foreign countries with this object in view?

Mr. GILLETT

The Travel Association of Great Britain and Ireland, of the Executive Committee of which I am chairman, is actively engaged in conducting a campaign for this object. Instructions have been sent to His Majesty's representatives abroad to co-operate by every means in their power and the Association is arranging for the distribution abroad of publicity literature, posters, etc. Committees of the chief British interests have been formed in New York and Buenos Aires to co-operate with the Association and it is hoped to set up a similar committee in Paris at an early date.
