§ 26. Mr. OSWALD LEWISasked the Minister of Agriculture whether he has any proposals to make with regard to the importation of bounty-fed wheat from Germany?
§ The MINISTER of AGRICULTURE (Mr. Noel Buxton)Advantage was taken of a recent meeting of agricultural experts at Geneva, invited by the Economic Committee of the League of 196 Nations, to raise through the British representative the question of the effect of the import bond system as applied to cereals on agricultural producers in this and other countries. I am informed that the statement by the British representative was sympathetically received by the representative of Germany, who promised full co-operation with any inquiry which the Economic Committee of the League will institute.
§ Mr. LEIF JONESDoes the right hon. Gentleman still consider that any wheat that is imported from Germany can properly be described as bounty-fed?
§ Mr. BUXTONThe term is inaccurate, but is used to convey the sense.
