HC Deb 18 February 1930 vol 235 cc1128-9
21. Mr. ERNEST BROWN

asked the Secretary of State for War whether, in connection with Victoria Cross annuities, he is prepared to consider an amendment of Articles 651 and 1146 of the Army Pay Warrant and corresponding articles of the King's Regulations for the Royal Navy and Air Force, so as to regularise the position of aged non-insured Victoria Cross annuitants with small unearned incomes, in accordance with the amendment to the Old Age Pension Act, 1924, and to ensure that the maximum Victoria Cross annuity may be paid to a necessitous officer or man in receipt of unrestricted old age pension under the Widows', Orphans' and Old Age Contributory Pensions Act, 1925?

The SECRETARY of STATE for WAR (Mr. T. Shaw)

If I understand the hon. Member's question aright, his suggestions involve not only an amendment of the Pay Warrant, but an amendment of the Old Age Pensions Acts. I will, however, consider the points raised in the question.
