Mr. SCRYMGEOURasked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he is aware that under hire-purchase agreements in common use in Scotland purchasers are taken bound to submit themselves to the jurisdiction of courts outside the areas in which they reside, and that otherwise these agreements contain harsh and oppressive conditions; and if he will consider whether the law can be amended so as to afford protection to persons who are induced to enter into such agreements?
